About ECAS
About ECAS
The School Attendance Service for east and central Christchurch (ECAS) is a collaboration between Te Ora Hou Ōtautahi, the Aranui Community Trust (ACTIS), Te Rūnanga o Ngā Maata Waka, and Te Tahi Youth, funded by the Ministry of Education.
The service supports chronically absent and non-enrolled students through personalised case management, helping to identify and overcome the challenges that impact attendance.

The Ministry of Education has published attendance service information for schools, including guidance to help you decide when to request support, and details of how to refer chronically absent students through the new attendance service school portal.
Schools continue to use ENROL for non-enrolment notifications.

The Attendance Service
Attendance services work with schools and families to help students enrol in education and to improve attendance. If you are responsible for a child aged between 5 and 16 years who is not enrolled in school, or who is enrolled but not attending regularly, you may be contacted by the attendance service.
